PERMAHAMI has successfully hosted the Upgrading Staff event on November 17-18, 2023, at Villa Joglo Tanjung, Kalasan, Yogyakarta. This event is a part of the routine program of PERMAHAMI’s Student Development Department, aiming to shape future leaders of the organization who are more excellent and high-quality. The theme chosen for this year is “Implementation of Organization Skill in Work Life,” reflecting the organization’s commitment to building self-quality and making a positive contribution to society.
The one-night event encapsulates various meticulously designed activities. A major highlight includes a presentation session by a competent speaker, Melani Amalia Massie, a 2019 Agricultural Microbiology student. In her presentation, Upgrading participants were encouraged to reflect on organizational skills, covering aspects such as professionalism, time management, and the ability to work under pressure. The primary focus of the material was strategies for balancing and prioritizing between work and other responsibilities. Drawing from her personal experiences, the speaker also shared insights into the benefits of being part of an organization that directly supports individual performance in the professional world.
Not only did Upgrading Staff PERMAHAMI provide speaker sessions, but it also incorporated non-formal activities such as Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and outbound activities in the vicinity of the accommodation. The FGD session played a crucial role in the program, offering participants a space for in-depth discussions and idea-sharing. Throughout the FGD, participants were encouraged to broaden their perspectives through interactions with each other. The focused and profound discussions allowed participants to explore concepts learned during the speaker sessions. The FGD served as a platform to foster collaboration, build shared understanding, and stimulate critical thinking.
Simultaneously, the outbound activities organized around the accommodation provided a unique and enjoyable experience for Upgrading Staff participants. Despite being entertaining, these activities were thoughtfully designed to provide valuable learning experiences. The outbound activities offered participants the chance to hone leadership skills, collaborate in a team, and face physical or mental challenges with a positive spirit.
As part of the series of activities, a sharing session and joint evaluation for the class of 2022 were conducted by the Board of Advisors and Organizational Formators (DFPO). This evaluation was not only intended to provide constructive feedback as a basis for organizational performance improvement but also created a valuable space for in-depth discussions among the board members. The presence of DFPO added a professional dimension to this evaluation. With an objective perspective, DFPO assisted in detailing areas that needed improvement and provided valuable insights. The structured discussions in this evaluation session became a stage for the overall development of the organization, with a focus on personal growth and progress for the class of 2022.
Ultimately, this session became a forum for the class of 2022 to share their views, ideas, and personal reflections on their experiences as board members. This evaluation also created a legacy of learning for the next class. Through reflection and discussion, PERMAHAMI absorbed values and principles that could be applied to enhance the organization’s quality in the future. Thus, the joint evaluation with the class of 2022 is not just an assessment but also an investment in building a dynamic and progressive organizational culture at PERMAHAMI.
Upgrading Staff PERMAHAMI is not just an event; it is a strategic investment in the personal and professional development of the participants. By integrating elements of education, evaluation, discussion, and recreational activities, the event has successfully created an environment that supports the comprehensive development of PERMAHAMI staff. The hope is that, after the conclusion of this event, the class of 2022 PERMAHAMI participants, who will become the organization’s board members and alumni, are better prepared to face challenges in the professional world and continue to make positive contributions to society.
