In the Judiciary Events of periods 1 and 2 in January 2024, the Department of Agricultural Microbiology graduated two students with the fastest study period, namely Roihana Ifa Kamalia (2020), commonly known as Ifa, with a study duration of 3 years 4 months 9 days, and Daniella Atteke Cantika Putri, commonly known as Cantika, with a study duration of 3 years 4 months 17 days. Ifa and Cantika started their microbiology studies during the COVID-19 pandemic with fully online lectures until the third semester. According to them, the strategy they applied to complete their studies on time was setting academic targets, especially for Field Work, Seminars, and Theses, along with strict time discipline. They always documented their academic targets, such as starting to draft fieldwork proposals during the 4th semester break so that they could conduct Field Work during the 5th-semester break in January 2023. They also conducted their fieldwork simultaneously with writing the final reports, allowing them to present their Field Work Seminar in March 2023.
Similarly, with the implementation of Field Work, the thesis and seminar class courses followed a similar approach. Ifa and Cantika began drafting seminar class presentations and research outlines since June 2023, but the actual research and seminar class presentations were conducted immediately after the 2nd period of Community Service (June 2023 – August 2023). Research was conducted in August 2023 under the guidance of Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D., and the Seminar Class was conducted in October 2023 under the guidance of Prof. Ir. Triwibowo Yuwono, Ph.D., for Ifa, and Ir. Ngadiman, M.Si., Ph.D., for Cantika. The process of completing their studies was not always smooth, so when faced with difficulties, they consulted their thesis advisors to find solutions together. They also maintained good relationships with their peers to support each other in navigating the final academic challenges. Finally, becoming the fastest graduates in Microbiology and attending the UGM Bachelor’s Degree Graduation Ceremony for the 2023/2024 Academic Year in February 2024, they hoped that their achievements, which were just the beginning of their future endeavors, would serve as a source of inspiration and blessing not only for themselves but also for others on a broader scale.
This synergy is a strong evidence to achieve the goal of SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
