The Agricultural Microbiology Department of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a curriculum update meeting on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. The meeting, attended by all faculty members, aimed to align the curriculum with developments in science and industry needs. Some key points considered in the curriculum adjustments for the upcoming academic year include regulations set by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 53 of 2023 and UGM Rector’s Regulation Number 23 of 2024 concerning the relaxation of the 2024 curriculum.
In his remarks, the Head of the Department, Ir. Donny Widianto, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of innovation in education to produce competitive graduates. The meeting discussed several aspects, including the addition of new courses related to the latest microbiology topics, enhanced field practice, and the integration of information technology in the learning process.
The faculty members also proposed further collaboration with industries, research institutions, and global universities to enrich students’ learning experiences. The outcome of this meeting was a formulation of recommendations that will be submitted to the faculty for further action.
The meeting concluded with the hope that the curriculum updates will improve the quality of education and the relevance of the study program in the era of globalization. The active participation of the Agricultural Microbiology Department, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, in the curriculum update involving all faculty members further demonstrates its commitment to achieving SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
