Yogyakarta-The Microbiology Student Association (PERMAHAMI) organized a social service activity on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Wreda Hanna Nursing Home, Jl. Surokarsan, Wirogunan, Kec. Mergangsan, Yogyakarta City, Yogyakarta Special Region. The Sosmas Bagi-Bagi (SBB) activity was attended by 19 students from Permahami and 31 nursing home residents and administrators.

Sosmas Bagi-Bagi (SBB) is a work program of the Permahami Community Social department which carries out social service activities to the wider community and has a positive impact on the social environment. SBB activities carry the theme “The more we have, the more we share” which has a philosophy in the form of the more we have, the more we share, so that the advantages we have are also a good opportunity to continue sharing.

This activity focuses on channeling love to elderly residents. the residents of the orphanage are entertained by listening to songs and singing together, remembering the good times of the residents of the orphanage, then continued by telling the experiences of the residents of the orphanage in terms of romance and youthful achievements. then continued by playing ball throwing games, and closed with a group photo.

Some residents of the orphanage feel happy to be visited by students, “Oma doesn’t like being lonely at home where her children have left her so she chooses to go to the orphanage so she has friends” said Oma Ada, The residents of the orphanage feel happy because with the SBB activities the residents of the orphanage feel the atmosphere of the orphanage becomes lively. Likewise, SBB participants feel a meaning such as Nabella Puspita “Very happy, get a new perspective on the journey of finding oneself. I learned that parents can’t be lonely. This learning makes me remember that no matter how busy I am, I must still tell my parents,” she said.

This synergy is a strong evidence to achieve the goal of SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
