The Department of Agricultural Microbiology organized a Community Service and Research Student Meeting on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. This event was held at the Integrated Agrocomplex Laboratory, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and was attended by faculty representatives, including Muhammad Saifur Rohman, S.P., M.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D., Desi Utami, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., Susanti Mugi Lestari, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D., and Yumechris Amekan, S.Si., M.Biotech., Ph.D., as well as educational staff, temporary daily workers (THL), and research students. The event started at 08:00 with community service at each laboratory where the researchers were based, followed by a research student meeting at 10:00 which included an evaluation of the ongoing research in the laboratory.

“I expect research students to always be careful when working in the laboratory, to adhere to procedures and equipment while always considering personal and environmental safety, and to always be aware of unsafe conditions and actions,” said Saifur. Yumechris added that personal protective equipment (PPE), such as lab coats and closed-toe shoes, should always be worn. “I advise that when working in the laboratory, it is better to be more disciplined with time, trying to arrive earlier and not too late so that the time can be utilized as best as possible,” said Desi. After the event concluded, it was closed by the Head of the Laboratory, Muhammad Saifur Rohman, S.P., M.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D. This synergy is a strong testament to achieving the goal of SDG 4: Quality Education.
