The Department of Scientific Affairs together with the Department of External Networking of PERMAHAMI UGM successfully held the Bincang Bareng Keilmuan (BBK) program on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 08.00 to 09.45 WIB via Zoom Meeting. This program was designed as an interactive space for knowledge exchange between students who already have professional experience and early-semester students seeking to understand various aspects of career preparation in the field of microbiology. Through this activity, students were guided to explore the requirements, procedures, and practical tips for choosing career paths that align with their interests, abilities, and potential.
Carrying the theme “Career Transitions Unlocked: Microbiology Alumni Navigating the Professional World”, the event featured Nadia Aliyatul Izzah from the R&D Yamazaki Group Research Center as the guest speaker. In her session, Nadia shared her professional journey from university life to working in a multinational company. She provided valuable strategies for students, including building a strong portfolio, choosing career paths based on personal interests, understanding industry demands, and preparing for professional challenges in the global microbiology sector.
The BBK program offered participants the opportunity to directly ask questions about career opportunities, recruitment processes, and the dynamics of working in research and development. Participants’ enthusiasm was evident from the high level of interaction during the discussion session, demonstrating that the program successfully served as an insightful and inspiring learning platform. Through this activity, students are expected to be better prepared in planning their professional futures and to recognize the wide range of career prospects offered by microbiology.
This activity supports several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing inclusive and relevant career learning opportunities; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by enhancing students’ readiness to enter the workforce; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration between student organizations and industry professionals to broaden students’ career perspectives.
