Keigo and Hanif Officially Earn Bachelor’s Degrees at the March 2025 Graduation of the Agricultural Microbiology Study Program

The Agricultural Microbiology Study Program once again held a graduation ceremony for its graduates on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The event took place in the Microbiology Library Room, 4th Floor of the AGLC Building, starting at 1:00 PM WIB. It was attended by all faculty members of the Agricultural Microbiology Study Program in an atmosphere filled with emotion, pride, and warmth.

In this graduation period, two students were declared graduates and officially earned the title of Bachelor of Agriculture (S.P.) Cokorda Keigoputra Pemayun, a 2021 cohort student, who graduated with the shortest study duration in his cohort—just 3 years, 7 months, and 10 days. Keigo also achieved a notable academic record with a GPA of 3.77 and graduated with honors (cum laude). In addition to Keigo, Hanif Gustita Putra, a 2020 cohort student, also graduated this month, completing his studies in 4 years, 6 months, and 12 days, with a GPA of 3.56 and strong academic achievements. read more

Guest Lecture with Prof. Fujiyama Kazuhito: Exploring the Role of Microorganisms in Waste Management and Environmental Sustainability

The Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held an international guest lecture featuring a distinguished speaker, Prof. Fujiyama Kazuhito from Osaka University, Japan. The event took place on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 08:00 to 09:30 AM (WIB) at the Venture Room, AGLC (Agrotopica Learning Center), Faculty of Agriculture, UGM.

This guest lecture carried the theme “Effective Role of Microorganisms in Waste Management and Environmental Sustainability,” a highly relevant topic in light of global issues surrounding waste management and the vital role of microorganisms in maintaining environmental balance. The event was attended by lecturers and students from the Agricultural Microbiology Study Program, as well as researchers and environmental observers who eagerly followed the scientific presentation. read more

Industrial Visit to PT. Widya Life Science: Application of Microbiology in the Industrial Sector

On Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 07.00 to 12.00 (WIB), students of the Agricultural Microbiology Study Program, class of 2023, conducted an industrial visit to PT Widya Life Science. This activity was part of the Microbiology of Agroindustry Practicum series, aimed at demonstrating the application of microbiology in the industrial sector as well as providing direct experience of the professional world. Through this visit, students gained insights into biotechnology-based production processes, quality standards, and the implementation of biosafety principles applied within the company. read more

The Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, once again hosted a guest lecture event that brought together both international and national perspectives in the field of sustainable agriculture. The event took place on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 08:00 to 09:30 AM (WIB) at the Venture Room, Agrotopica Learning Center (AGLC) Building, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM.

The lecture featured Saba Sinai Mameghany from Central Queensland University, Australia, who delivered a presentation titled “Protecting and Growing Australian Agriculture.” In her talk, Saba discussed the challenges and strategies in Australian agriculture in the face of climate change, land degradation, and innovations in biosecurity aimed at safeguarding national food security. read more

Coordination Meeting for Even Semester Practicum, Department of Agricultural Microbiology

Yogyakarta, February 18, 2025 – The Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a coordination meeting for the even semester practicum on Tuesday (2/18). The meeting was attended by practicum assistants, practicum supervisors, and the head of the laboratory. This activity was organized to align perspectives, clarify task distribution, and confirm the readiness of all components for practicum implementation.

In the meeting, detailed explanations were provided regarding the roles and responsibilities of practicum assistants, including material preparation, student assistance, and reporting of practicum activities. Practicum supervisors also gave directions on effective teaching methods to help students better understand concepts and gain practical skills in conducting experiments. The discussion was interactive, with participants exchanging ideas on the teaching strategies to be applied. read more

Students Undertake Fieldwork at PT Ajinomoto: Expanding Microbial Knowledge and Building Networks

Fieldwork (Kerja Lapangan/KL) from January 6–31, 2025, was carried out by four students—Ravinella An Naura, Almayra Khanza Fahrani, Naza Alimah, and Sherly Aurora Cahyadewi—at PT Ajinomoto. This activity served as direct learning in the industry, particularly in the fields of microbiology, chemistry, and organizational management. Over the course of nearly a month, the students had the opportunity to observe the company’s work processes while also practicing the skills they had previously learned in the classroom. read more

The event, held at the Agricultural Microbiology Library, 4th Floor of the AGLC Building, marked an important milestone for students who have completed their academic journey.

One of the graduates formally recognized at this ceremony was Kartawijaya, who officially earned the title of Bachelor of Agriculture (S.P.) after completing all stages of study and a final project in agricultural microbiology. read more

Academic Progress Evaluation for the 2019 and 2020 Cohorts – Agricultural Microbiology Study Program: A Virtual Reflection with the Head of Program

The Agricultural Microbiology Study Program once again conducted an Academic Progress Evaluation activity, this time aimed at students from the 2019 and 2020 cohorts. The event was held online via Zoom Meeting on Thursday, January 16, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM WIB.

Led directly by the Head of the Agricultural Microbiology Study Program, Ir. Ngadiman, M.Si., Ph.D., the session aimed to gather student feedback on the dynamics of lectures, academic advising, and study progress. Despite being held virtually, the discussion was active and interactive, reflecting the students’ enthusiasm in sharing their insights and challenges. read more
