On Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 07.00 to 12.00 (WIB), students of the Agricultural Microbiology Study Program, class of 2023, conducted an industrial visit to PT Widya Life Science. This activity was part of the Microbiology of Agroindustry Practicum series, aimed at demonstrating the application of microbiology in the industrial sector as well as providing direct experience of the professional world. Through this visit, students gained insights into biotechnology-based production processes, quality standards, and the implementation of biosafety principles applied within the company.

In addition to enhancing theoretical knowledge, the industrial visit also served as a platform for students to learn about the challenges and opportunities in the professional field. Students had the opportunity to engage in direct discussions with industry practitioners on product innovation, applied research, and the role of microorganisms in generating economically valuable products. This activity is expected to foster critical thinking skills, analytical abilities, and better preparedness for future demands in the fields of biotechnology and agroindustry.

This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the development of experiential learning, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by promoting understanding of biotechnology innovation, and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by introducing environmentally friendly production practices in the agroindustry sector. Thus, the industrial visit not only enriched the students’ academic insights but also contributed to achieving sustainable development.
