Yogyakarta, May 3, 2025 – The Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a training session on writing fieldwork (KL) reports, class seminars, and undergraduate theses, featuring speakers Prof. Ir. Donny Widianto, Ph.D., and alumna Roihana Ifa Kamalia, S.P. The training took place in person at the 3rd floor of the KPTU Building, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. The participants consisted of Agricultural Microbiology students, particularly from the 2022, 2023, and 2024 cohorts, who in the upcoming semester will take courses on fieldwork, class seminars, and thesis writing. The main goal of this activity was to enhance students’ understanding of writing KL seminars, class seminars, and theses, as well as to equip them with the ability to produce high-quality scientific works.
In this training, Donny provided guidance and direction on several key aspects of class seminar and thesis writing. As an expert in agricultural microbiology, he shared valuable insights and practical experiences with the students. Roihana, as an alumna, also shared her personal experiences along with tips and tricks regarding KL seminars, class seminars, and thesis writing. The topics covered included how to find a suitable fieldwork placement, how to identify relevant seminar ideas, and experiences related to the procedures for submitting class seminar and thesis proposals within the Department of Agricultural Microbiology.
The training also placed a strong emphasis on technical skills, where students were guided to gain an in-depth understanding of the process of submitting seminar and thesis proposals. This included administrative procedures, technical requirements, and proper writing formats. With a strong emphasis on adherence to scientific principles, students are expected to be able to produce scientific works of high quality that meet academic standards.
