Yogyakarta, September 16, 2023 – The Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), conducted a training on class seminar and thesis writing with Donny Widianto as the speaker and Head of the Department of Agricultural Microbiology. The training took place through a physical meeting at the Rachmiwati Building, Faculty of Agriculture, UGM. Participants included Agricultural Microbiology students, primarily from the 2021 batch, who will be taking the Class Seminar and Thesis courses in the upcoming semester. The main objective of this activity is to enhance participants’ understanding of writing seminars and theses, enabling them to produce high-quality academic work.
Yogyakarta, October 21, 2023 – In an effort to enhance the understanding of microbiology students and high school students, the Department of Agricultural Microbiology at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) organized the Microbiome Creation Food Product event on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The event took place at the Integrated Agrocomplex Laboratory and featured Sri Wedastri, a lecturer of Post-Harvest Microbiology at the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, UGM, as the speaker.
The main objective of the Microbiome Creation Food Product is to provide in-depth knowledge and understanding to participants about the process of making nata de coco. With a competent speaker, participants are invited to understand the microbiota involved in the formation of nata de coco and its impact on health and microbial diversity. The event focuses on delivering material about the production of nata de coco, a fermented product that is not only delicious but also rich in benefits for health. Participants, consisting of microbiology students and high school students, are not only listening to theory but also actively participating in the practical aspects of nata de coco production. The practical activities are designed to provide a direct and profound experience, allowing participants to feel each stage in the process of making this fermented product. Through a group approach, a natural collaborative atmosphere is created, enriching the learning experience for participants.
Yogyakarta, October 28, 2023 – The Department of Science, Observers, and Entrepreneurship of PERMAHAMI Nayakaharsa Cabinet once again organized its flagship program, the Entrepreneurship Workshop with the theme “Entrepreneurship Seminar & Yoghurt Making Training.” The event, held at the Integrated Agrocomplex Laboratory of UGM on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 07:30, drew the attention of students from the Department of Agricultural Microbiology UGM by featuring competent speaker Candra Rahmani Priyambada, CEO of YAHUUD YOGHURT.
PERMAHAMI has successfully hosted the Upgrading Staff event on November 17-18, 2023, at Villa Joglo Tanjung, Kalasan, Yogyakarta. This event is a part of the routine program of PERMAHAMI’s Student Development Department, aiming to shape future leaders of the organization who are more excellent and high-quality. The theme chosen for this year is “Implementation of Organization Skill in Work Life,” reflecting the organization’s commitment to building self-quality and making a positive contribution to society.
Melodia Rezadhini, who graduated in August 2023 as a 2019 Agricultural Microbiology student, joined the UGM-Indonesia Team to represent UGM and Indonesia in a prestigious international competition in Synthetic Biology. The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition involved more than 400 teams from various high schools to renowned universities worldwide, spanning over 66 countries. This year’s Grand Jamboree for the iGEM Competition was held in Paris, France.
The iGEM Competition originated from a summer school activity at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2003. Over two decades, the iGEM Competition has catalyzed the emergence of leading biotechnology research, companies, and startups such as Ginkgo Bioworks, Asimov, and Benchling.
