Scholarly Talkshow: Career talkshow Session

Bincang Bareng Keilmuan (BBK): Career talkshow Session is a talkshow agenda as a session to share experiences about the career world as a provision for active Microbiology students in preparing to face the world of work. Through the Scientific Talk agenda, it is hoped that it can prepare students to face challenges, where the world of work is different from the campus world and career competition will be increasingly difficult.

On Saturday, June 8, 2024 Bincang Bareng Keilmuan (BBK): Career talkshow session was held in a hybrid manner, online in the Zoom meeting room and offline in the KPTU room, A1 Building, 3rd Floor. The BBK event was attended by Susanti Mugi Lestari, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D. and Agung Dian Kharisma, S.Pd.Si., M.Biotek, Ph.D. as representatives of lecturers of the Agricultural Microbiology department and active students of Agricultural Microbiology as many as 48 participants. BBK: Career talkshow session was initiated by the Scientific Department of the Microbiology Student Association (Permahami) because it saw the difficulty of competing in the world of work after graduating from campus. So that the BBK event carries the theme “Sharing by Alumni: Building Capacity for a Career in Industry”. read more

Department of Agricultural Microbiology UGM Holds Farewell Party and Welcomes New Lecturers

The Department of Agricultural Microbiology held a Farewell Party on Friday, May 31, 2024. The event, which was held at the Agrocomplex Integrated Laboratory, Gadjah Mada University, was attended by all lecturers, education staff, casual daily workers (THL), and research students. The event began with a warm welcome from the Head of the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Ir. Donny Widianto, Ph.D. The Farewell party was held for one of the research assistants in the Department, Qiurita Fortuna. read more

Agricultural Microbiology students visited the PIALAM Sewon Wastewater Treatment Plant in Yogyakarta.

On May 20, 2024, the Sewon Bantul Yogyakarta PIALAM Wastewater Treatment Plant became the location for a field visit as part of an aquatic microbiology practicum. The visit was attended by 36 students and 4 practicum assistants, accompanied by the Practicum Supervisor, Nur Akbar Arofatullah, S.P., M.Biotech., Ph.D. The event began with welcoming remarks from the supervisor and representatives of the PIALAM Wastewater Treatment Plant, who warmly greeted the group. Following the welcome, a presentation was given on the Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) system used by the plant for domestic wastewater treatment in Yogyakarta city. read more

PERMAHAMI shares love at Hanna Nursing Home

Yogyakarta-The Microbiology Student Association (PERMAHAMI) organized a social service activity on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Wreda Hanna Nursing Home, Jl. Surokarsan, Wirogunan, Kec. Mergangsan, Yogyakarta City, Yogyakarta Special Region. The Sosmas Bagi-Bagi (SBB) activity was attended by 19 students from Permahami and 31 nursing home residents and administrators.

Sosmas Bagi-Bagi (SBB) is a work program of the Permahami Community Social department which carries out social service activities to the wider community and has a positive impact on the social environment. SBB activities carry the theme “The more we have, the more we share” which has a philosophy in the form of the more we have, the more we share, so that the advantages we have are also a good opportunity to continue sharing. read more

The Department of Agricultural Microbiology Holds a Farewell Party

The Department of Agricultural Microbiology held a Sarasehan event on Friday, April 26, 2024. The event, held at the Integrated Laboratory of the Agrocomplex, Gadjah Mada University, was attended by all lecturers, educational staff, daily workers, and research students. The event began with warm remarks from the Chair of the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Ir. Donny Widianto, Ph.D.

In his speech, Donny conveyed that the Microbiology Department has a flagship program called Fast track, where students can obtain two degrees simultaneously in just five years, namely a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and a master’s degree in biotechnology. This Sarasehan event also served as a Farewell party for one of the research assistants in the Department, Ni Nyoman Sista Jayasanti. In addition to being a research assistant in Agricultural Microbiology, Sista also pursued her master’s degree and was recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Biotechnology on April 24, 2024, from the Graduate School of UGM. read more

The Agricultural Microbiology Department of UGM Holds Curriculum Update Meeting

The Agricultural Microbiology Department of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a curriculum update meeting on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. The meeting, attended by all faculty members, aimed to align the curriculum with developments in science and industry needs. Some key points considered in the curriculum adjustments for the upcoming academic year include regulations set by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 53 of 2023 and UGM Rector’s Regulation Number 23 of 2024 concerning the relaxation of the 2024 curriculum. read more

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL MICROBIOLOGY HOLDS APRIL 2024 JUDICIUM

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the Department of Agricultural Microbiology held a graduation ceremony (judicium), with a total of five students graduating at the Microbiology Library, AGLC Building, 4th floor. These five students will attend the graduation ceremony in May 2024. Three students under the research guidance of Ir. Ngadiman, M.Si., Ph.D., are conducting research on the relationship between beneficial microorganisms and the growth of food crops and pathogen control. One student under the research guidance of Prof. Ir. Triwibowo Yuwono, Ph.D., is researching the formulation of osmotolerant rhizobacteria as biofertilizer, and one student under the research guidance of Prof. Ir. Irfan Dwidya Prijambada, M.Eng., Ph.D., is researching gold biooxidation by Chromobacterium violaceum. Three out of the five students successfully graduated with honors (Cumlaude) with a GPA above 3.70. read more

SDGs 4: Quality Education | SDGs: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

On March 25, 2024, agricultural microbiology students from the 2022 class participated in a series of industrial visits to PT Biotek Cipta Kreasi, located in Donoharjo, Sleman. PT Biotek Cipta Kreasi is a startup engaged in research and development of biotechnology to produce products that can enhance productivity in agriculture, fisheries, environmental, and food sectors. One of the products they produce is biofertilizers. This industrial visit was part of the agro-industrial microbiology practicum event in 2024. Mrs. Desi Utami, SP, M.Sc, Ph.D., the coordinator lecturer of the agro-industrial microbiology practicum, accompanied the industrial visit. The practicum assistant team also assisted the students during the visit. The purpose of the industrial visit was to provide an overview of biofertilizer industry development to the students. Additionally, this activity also motivated students to venture into entrepreneurship with the microbiological knowledge they have acquired. read more

Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada’s main goal in international collaboration is to enhance academic reputation as a global player in higher education. On 27 March 2024, Dr. Kelly Redeker from Department of Biology, University of York, UK and his former student, Dr. Yumechris Amekan were welcomed by our Head of Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Ir. Donny Widianto, Ph.D., along with Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si; and our Faculty member, Prof. Ir. Irfan D. Prijambada. The meeting aimed to discuss and explore potential collaborations between Department of Agricultural Microbiology and University of York, UK. read more

SAPA FAPERTA: GETTING TO KNOW THE AGRICULTURAL MICROBIOLOGY DEPARTMENT CLOSER BY INVOLVING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Department of Agricultural Microbiology held a podcast, titled “Exploring the Agricultural Microbiology Department,” which was broadcasted on the social media program Sapa Faperta on Friday, March 8, 2024. The podcast aimed to introduce the Department of Agricultural Microbiology to prospective new students of the Agricultural Microbiology Study Program, who are predominantly high school students. The hosts of the podcast were Khalid Wirawan, a student from State High School 1 Teladan Yogyakarta, and Angie Ira, a student from SMF Indonesia Yogyakarta. The speakers included Ir. Donny Widianto, Ph.D., the Chairperson of the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Rizky Octavya, a student from the 2020 class of Agricultural Microbiology and former chairperson of PERMAHAMI, and Severinus Adrian, a new student from the 2023 class of Agricultural Microbiology. read more
